What to Do When …

Employee Dies

If an employee dies while employed at Kraft, a family member of the employee should refer to the action steps and information shown below.

• Notify the employee's supervisor immediately.

• Call 1-800-KRAFT-HR (1-800-572-3847) and inform a representative of the employee’s death within 31 days. Kraft will then file claims for Basic Life and, if applicable, Business Travel Insurance.

• Enroll in COBRA coverage (if desired) within 60 days by calling 1-800-KRAFT-HR (1-800-572-3847).

• Call 1-800 KRAFT HR (1-800-572-3847) to enroll in medical coverage if you are the spouse of an employee who was eligible for retiree insurance.

• Notify the Thrift 401(k) Plan administrator by calling 1-800-617-2517. International: call 1-847-883-0528.

• Submit any medical, dental and/or FSA claims incurred before the employee’s death as usual.

• Review Retirement Plan (pension) MyBenefits Online to see if surviving spouse is eligible for a death benefit.

• Calling the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at 1-877-EAP-KRAF (1-877-327-5723) for grief counseling, if you continue medical coverage.

• Calling Health Dialog at 1-800-369-0142 (TTY: 1-800-369-1284) for help with health care decisions if you continue medical coverage.
