Cost of Medical Insurance Coverage
You and Kraft share the cost of medical insurance — with Kraft picking up the major
part of the cost. How much you pay depends on:
The Option You Elect — options paying the highest benefits cost more,
-
How Many Family Members You Cover* (your coverage level) — each dependent costs more, and
-
Your Pay Band — Kraft varies employee contributions based on pay bands to keep coverage
accessible and affordable. Your contribution is
determined using your base salary as of July 31 each year.
Keep in mind, the purpose of the Medical Insurance Plan is to help protect you and your
family from major financial loss should you have a serious health condition.
Who Pays for Medical Expenses?
Kraft self-insures the Network Plans. That means every medical expense you incur
(less your contributions and any deductible or co-insurance you pay), in effect, comes straight
out of Kraft’s operating funds. That leaves less money available for production, research,
development, growth and other business expenses.
In short, every employee’s health care
expenses have a direct impact on the Company’s bottom line.
